Know Your Rights (Information Campaign)

Our KNOW YOUR RIGHTS series of 30 public service announcements is aimed at raising understanding of, and support for, human rights among Pacific Islanders from all walks of life.

Launched last International Human Rights Day (10 December, 2007), in celebration of 60 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the announcements – one for each of the articles in the Declaration – look at the human rights issues facing us today in our local communities, in our Pacific Island nations and in our region as a whole, while at the same time honours those Pacific Islanders that each day work towards the promotion and protection of the human rights of all our people.

The original idea for the series came from Youth for Human Rights International, who gave permission to do a Pacific version of their initial concept, while AusAID kindly stepped in to fund the production.

At RRRT we too believe in sharing information and ideas so please contact us at RRRTRegistry@spc.int if you would like a DVD of the series for educational purposes or other activities that promote the advancement of human rights and other socially-oriented projects.

We also welcome comments, questions and suggestions and would be most grateful if you spare a couple of minutes to complete the below feedback form online and submit. The purpose of this feedback form is to help us best understand how useful the series is as an educational and awareness raising tool so we can continue to provide good, free and accessible resources which can be used across the region to progress the advancement of human rights education for all.

We value your contribution and we’ll put every response received by 10 December, 2008 (World Human Rights Day) in the draw for a $100 and two $50 book vouchers from the USP Book Store.

* You are welcome to respond anonymously, but if you wish to go in the draw for one of the three book vouchers, please include your name and contact details. Winners who live outside Fiji will be sent books of their choosing to the same value as the voucher drawn.

(Handy hint: If an advertisment/PSA is slow in spooling (i.e. it stops and starts alot), let it run through once and then press the play button (bottom left) again and it should the run through smoothly second time round. The series can also be viewed at www.youtube.com/RRRTpacific)
